VIS Vienna Shorts Festival

 

The international short film festival VIS Vienna Shorts, a qualifying festival for the Academy Awards & the European Film Award, enters its 16th edition with a courageous programme and more than 300 extraordinary films. The greatest talents and most exciting experiments of the past year will be shown in four Vienna city cinemas - on three days (May 30, 31 & June 2) also for the first time in Burg Kino: films from Croatia, Denmark & England as well as award-winning highlights from all over the world.

Under the motto COURAGE! the short film festival VIS Vienna Shorts has been on the lookout for positive visions for the future and social utopias from which strong communities and a sense of collaboration can develop without having to fall back on simplistic or corrosive concepts.

Free admission between 12 am and 6 pm to some of the best short films in the world: In cooperation with the Academy of Austrian Cinema and the French Académie des Césars, the festival VIS Vienna Shorts presents the marathon programme LES NUITS EN OR (THE GOLDEN NIGHTS), i.e. those films which have been selected as the best in their respective countries by the national film academies (Oscar, Bafta, César and Co.!) worldwide.

Free admission to some of the best short films in the world between 11 am and 6 pm: In cooperation with the Austrian Film Academy and the French Académie des Césars, the festival VIS Vienna Shorts is showing the second part of the LES NUITS EN OR (THE GOLDEN NIGHTS) marathon programme, i.e. those films that have been selected as the best in their country by the national film academies (Oscar, Bafta, César and Co.!) worldwide.
